Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Yappr (yapprhq.com and related apps). By creating an account or using Yappr, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
What Yappr is
Yappr helps adults practice languages through scheduled peer-to-peer video conversations and related tools (matching, messaging, notes, learning prompts). Yappr is not a school, employer, or professional tutoring agency, and partners are other members, not Yappr employees.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old. You must provide accurate information during signup and keep it reasonably up to date. One person per account unless we expressly allow otherwise.
Your account
You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping login access secure. Tell us right away if you think someone else is using your account. We may require verification steps (for example email or identity checks) to protect the community.
Be respectful
Yappr is for genuine language exchange. You agree not to harass, threaten, exploit, or discriminate against other members; share illegal content; record or redistribute sessions without clear consent from everyone involved; spam; scrape the service; attempt unauthorized access; or otherwise misuse Yappr. Sexual solicitation, scams, and impersonation are banned.

Sessions and user interactions
Video calls happen between members. You are responsible for what you say and do during calls and messages. Yappr is not liable for disputes or harm arising from member-to-member interactions, except where the law says we cannot limit that responsibility. Leave a session and report if something feels wrong.
Scheduling depends on mutual availability and matching. We work hard to make sessions happen, but we do not guarantee a partner, a specific time slot, or uninterrupted uptime.
Content you provide
You keep ownership of content you submit (profile text, photos, notes, messages you write). You grant Yappr a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, and display that content as needed to operate and improve the service, including generating AI-assisted practice materials from context you provide. Do not upload content you do not have the right to use.
AI features
Some features use third-party AI to suggest intros, prompts, or practice material. AI output can be wrong or awkward. Use judgment. Do not treat AI suggestions as professional advice.
Beta and changes to the service
Features may change, break, or be temporarily unavailable while we build. We may modify or discontinue parts of Yappr with reasonable notice when practical. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated service as offered.
Fees
Pricing, pilots, and paid plans (if offered) will be shown clearly at signup or checkout. Unless stated otherwise, fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using Yappr and request account deletion. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms, create risk for others, or misuse the platform. We may also suspend access to investigate safety reports.
Disclaimers
Yappr is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Language progress is not guaranteed.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Yappr and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to Yappr is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for Yappr in the 12 months before the claim or (b) fifty euros (€50). Some places do not allow certain limits; in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum permitted by law.

How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence say otherwise. Courts in Spain have jurisdiction, subject to those mandatory protections.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide notice in-product or by email when appropriate. If you continue using Yappr after the effective date, you accept the updated terms.
